Whole grain and sprouted grain baking has recently become part of the healthy eating trend. Finding whole grain products has happily become easier. Breads made with 100% whole grain are lower in saturated fat, a source of fiber, and recommended by the American Heart Association. We offer soft or hearty-textured hand crafted breads. Sprouted grains are packed with nutrients because the seed has germinated. This makes the protein, B vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, and trace minerals (iron, zinc, copper, and magnesium) more bio-available to your body. Research has been shown to indicate that a diet rich in whole grains may reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and some forms of cancer.
Spent grains from the beer making are essentially malted grains from brewing with some of the proteins and nutrients extracted while making beer. We take these spent beer grains, match the flavors of individual local craft brews to create uniquely delicious bread with the same flavor notes as your favorite craft beer. We have collaborations with several breweries and continue to expand our offerings. Please check the Community Events and Locations pages on this website for updates as we add retail locations, and develop more collaborations throughout RVA which carry Craft Brew Bread.
